Nazareth was a well-known hard rock band during the 70s, with hits like “Hair of the Dog” and “Love Hurts.” Their original album cover features a painting of a three-headed dog with bat wings. I wanted to take a different approach to the album aesthetic, while still utilizing a similar subject. I used grungy imagery with gnarled type interacting with a fierce wolf, using a variety of textures to abstract and enhance the overall aesthetic.

The goal of this project was to design the front and back of an album cover that represented the band. My design utilizes a similar tone to the band’s discography designs, but the aesthetic is rougher and uses elements of photography.
